Studying Chinese medicine
Studying a Chinese medicine degree in Australia takes around 4-5 years full time, we learn many aspects of the traditional medicine that was developed and is still practiced in China, Japan, Taiwan and Korea.
Traditional medicine encompasses acupuncture, cupping, Gua Sha, electroacupuncture, LASER therapy, herbal medicine, Tui Na (Chinese massage), Qigong and Taiji, Chinese dietetics, moxibustion, auricular, hand and scalp acupuncture theories and blood-letting.
We also study equal amounts of Western Medicine, including modules on biology, anatomy, pathology, chemistry, counselling, clinical skills, pharmacology, medical research and public health.
We clock up around 1000 hours of clinical experience in the student clinic, so that we can be confident stepping into a practitioner role when we graduate.
